L’Innocence (1893) by William-Adolphe Bouguereau
I saw a printed version of this painting today. In a religious article store.
Honestly, I have to admit I was literally awestruck and mesmerized. Never in my life has a religious icon affected me in such overwhelming magnitude. From the innocent yet dignified face of baby Jesus, to the adorable lamb, to the graceful and pure face of Mama Mary. That sensation was phenomenal. I stood there still for a solid minute. Just captivated.
I promise myself that when I am able, I will have this in my house. A life-size version.
Spiritually touched. Nuff said.
